The prospect that Former Ohio State Head Coach Urban Meyer's next gig may with be with an NFL team, appears to become more likely by day.

According to NFL insider, Adam Schefter, Meyer has reportedly begun assembling his coaching staff should he take on the head coaching position with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The staff includes assistants from the college ranks, Schefter reports.

Earlier this month, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Meyer had not dismissed overtures from at least two NFL teams. In the days since, that sentiment has only grown stronger, with Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reporting a week ago that Meyer "expects to land" the Jacksonville Jaguars job.

So will Meyer, who possesses no prior NFL experience, finally make the jump to the league? We'll just have to wait and see.

3News Sports Analyst Ben Axelrod who covered Meyer at Ohio State since he was hired as the Buckeyes' head coach in 2012 and wrote a book on him  shared his thoughts earlier this week on Meyer's potential move.

"One thing, however, that I've learned from nearly a decade of covering Meyer is to never bet against him. And while I certainly have some skepticism about his pro prospects, I'm excited for the possibility of finally getting the answers to some of these questions," Axelrod wrote.

Axelrod also mentioned his two biggest questions about Meyer's NFL prospects :

  • How much is he going to have on his plate?
  • How is he going to handle a league where losing at least five games in a season isn't just common, but virtually guaranteed?

"If Meyer insists on both coaching his team and controlling his roster, I fear that would be too much for a coach with no previous NFL experience to handle," explained Axelrod. "And if he takes every loss in the league as hard as he did in college, it's hard to imagine his NFL tenure lasting longer than a year. "

What do you think? Is this a good more for Meyer?
