We know you can't function without your coffee. So here's a great list to choose from.

CLEVELAND — Coffee, java, joe. Whatever you call it, almost all of us drink it. And so finding a new coffee shop can be one of the best ways to treat yourself! If you're always in search of the yummiest cup of the good stuff, we've got you covered. Here is a list 10 of the best coffee shops in town. Go and support, coffee surely has gotten us through a lot the past year.

This feature is part of the "Save Our Sauce" campaign, which is being done to show support for those who work in the food industry throughout Northeast Ohio amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Duck-Rabbit: 4160 Lorain Ave, Cleveland

After four years in Duck Island, Calvin Verga relocated his popular coffee shop to a new, larger home in Ohio City. In addition to retail coffee sales, the 30-seat café now also offers a simple breakfast menu revolving around toast and oats. Customers can expect variations on sweet toast, savory toast, avocado toast, granola and oatmeal.

StoneFruit Coffee Co.: 5th Street Arcades: 530 Euclid Ave, Cleveland

Downtown Cleveland took a big hit when Pour Cleveland closed its doors. Fortunately, an excellent replacement stepped in almost immediately. Youngstown-based StoneFruit, which has locations in that city as well as Boardman, Poland, and Canfield, does everything in house. They buy the beans, roast them, grind them and brew them into high-quality espressos, Americanos, lattes, and frappuccinos.

Phoenix Coffee: Multiple locations

In addition to being one of Northeast Ohio’s favorite coffee shops, with five locations throughout the region, Phoenix also happens to be the most progressive. The homegrown company recently transitioned to a worker-owned cooperative, which gives workers an ownership stake in the company, profit-sharing and representation on the board.

Rising Star Coffee: Multiple locations 

Hingetown location

What began as a small roastery and café in Ohio City has blossomed into a beloved regional brand. From a central roastery come some of the finest beans in town, which are imported, roasted, and shipped to local shops. There they become perfect cups of coffee, which are offered alongside pastries and other small bites.

Six Shooter Coffee: 15613 Waterloo Rd, Cleveland

The Waterloo neighborhood in Collinwood, home to the Beachland Ballroom, finally got the coffee shop it deserved thanks to Six Shooter. This spirited small-batch roaster and brewer does everything right and delivers its products in a great space with great people who are passionate about coffee.

Long before the Detroit Shoreway transformed into the Gordon Square it is today, there was Gypsy. This great neighborhood hub offers a traditional European experience with coffee, breakfast items, light lunches, pastries and desserts.

Civilization: 2366 W 11th St, Cleveland

This Tremont staple is a pioneer in the local coffee scene. For more than 30 years, this traditional European-style café has fueled the people who have transformed the neighborhood into what it is today. In addition to excellent coffee, sourced from the owner's own City Roast brand, Civilization offers a selection of pastries, sandwiches and wraps. Great sidewalk seating.

The Loop: 1100 Fairfield Ave, Cleveland

Coffee drinkers who are in the loop likely are wise to the Loop, a unique shop in Tremont that does things a little differently. Owner Dave Foran roasts his own beans daily onsite and serves them up in perfectly pulled shots of espresso and drip-based drinks. A chill, unpretentious vibe and outdoor seating add to the appeal, but it’s the retail record section that really sets this place apart.

Metropolitan Coffee: 4744 Broadview Rd, Cleveland

Old Brooklyn scored a win when Deirdre Faranda and her husband transformed a former convenience store into a dreamy neighborhood coffee shop. The excellent coffee is sourced from Rising Star and the in-house pastries are 100-percent nut-free. Those items are sold alongside some great local gift items. The roomy patio is the place to be on warm days.

Little Italy suffered a minor blow when Rising Star Coffee relocated to Cleveland Heights. But the pain was quickly assuaged thanks to Blue Sky Brews, which took over the space and continued offering exceptional coffee and service in an attractive setting. It already feels like a neighborhood staple.
