FBI Violent Crime Task Force looking for Garfield Heights credit union robbery suspect

The suspect was observed entering a Nissan Pathfinder SUV described as a "mid-90s model" without a license plate on Granger Road after the robbery.

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio — The FBI Violent Crime Task Force (FBI VCTF) is asking the public for help in identifying and locating a robbery suspect.

On Monday, May 8 at approximately 1:05 p.m., an unknown man walked into the Emerald Credit Union on the 13000 block of Granger Road in Garfield Heights. After entering the building, he sat in the lobby waiting for customers to leave. When they did, he approached one of the working tellers and gave him a demand note.

The suspect then left the bank through the front of the building. He was seen running South towards the intersection of East 133rd Street, East 134th Street and Granger Road.

Once the suspect reached Granger Road, he was observed entering the passenger side of a Nissan Pathfinder SUV described as a "mid-90s model" without a license plate.

The following description of the suspect was released by the FBI VCTF:

  • Approximately 6' tall
  • Wearing a curly wig
  • Dark sunglasses
  • Covid mask

The FBI Violent Crime Task Force asks anyone with information about the robbery to contact the FBI tip line at 1-877-FBI-OHIO. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can request anonymity when calling the tip line if you wish.

Security camera video will be released on Tuesday according to the FBI.
