FBI arrests 69-year-old Smithville man for distributing sexually explicit content of children

The Cleveland Division of the FBI along with the Canton Resident Agency’s Child Exploitation Task Force on Tuesday announced the arrest of 69-year-old Dennis E. Horn of Smithville, Ohio. 

Just last week, an arrest warrant was issued for Horn for the receiving and distributing of sexually-explicit images and content involving minors. The warrant also claimed that Horn knowingly possessed or accessed child pornography as recently as Feb. 8.

Law enforcement officials opened an investigation into Horn on Jan. 11 after discovering that an IP address used by Horn was making and distributing child-pornographic content for online sharing.

Officials said on Tuesday via a press release that the arrest warrant was executed at Horn's resident where explicit images were seized from the home, but law enforcement was unable to locate Horn.

The 69-year-old was later seen in the Smithville area on Monday, but law enforcement was unable to arrest the man at that time. Officials were able to later return to his residence and find him inside. 

After a more than 15-hour standoff between Horn and police, the man was taken into custody by Cleveland's FBI SWAT at 5:25 a.m. on Tuesday. 

Horn had his first appearance in court today and will remain in custody until his next hearing on Feb. 22.
