2 killed in double homicide at Cleveland apartment building

A 41-year-old and 17-year-old were killed in a double homicide earlier this week.

CLEVELAND — A 41-year-old man and a 17-year-old teen were killed in a double homicide that took place in Cleveland earlier this week.

According to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office, 41-year-old Dushawn Sweeney of Cleveland and 17-year-old Izaiah Cooper of Cleveland were killed in the incident, which occurred at 1374 West Blvd. Both victims were conveyed to MetroHealth Medical Center on Wednesday, with Cooper being pronounced dead on the same day and Sweeney being pronounced dead on Thursday.

According to Cleveland Police, officers responded to 1347 West Blvd. at 2 p.m. on Wednesday for reports of a male shot. Upon arrival, officers found the first victim on the floor of the apartment building with a gunshot wound. The second victim was located down on the sidewalk in front of 1367 West Blvd. with a gunshot wound to his leg.

A preliminary investigation indicates that both victims were shot inside of the apartment building at 1347 West Blvd. A firearm was recovered near the second victim and narcotics were recovered at the scene. 

No arrests have been made as a result of the incident, which is being investigated as a homicide.
