Comedian Aries Spears to perform at Cleveland Improv February 19-21

The longtime comedian will perform a total of eight shows this weekend.

CLEVELAND — And the show must go on. 

Despite the pandemic putting a damper on many events and social gatherings, comedians are still working to bring us humor during these dark times.

While abiding by social distancing guidelines and limiting capacity the Improv Comedy Club in Cleveland continues to host local and nationally recognized comics. This weekend, longtime comic Aries Spears, best known for his impersonations, will host eight shows from February 19 through February 21.

"Ya know, I think laugher is important during all times. I can certainly understand the stress more so now, but I think it’s a key ingredient to happiness in life period… so I’m always happy to facilitate," Spears explained.

Spears, a New Jersey native, rose to fame on the hit television show, Mad TV. He joined the cast in 1997 and stayed until the show's tenth season in 2005. He later went on to book roles in television series and host a comedy special.

Spears is scheduled to host two shows Friday and three shows on both Saturday and Sunday. Despite having a full schedule during his time in Cleveland, he admits that is touring schedule has been impacted by the pandemic. 

"I’m used to working all year round, so between dates that have either been flat out cancelled or rescheduled. I’m not getting as much as I’m used to, and I’m used to always getting something," said Spears.
