CLEVELAND — Two people were arrested on Wednesday in connection with the murder of a 20-year-old man that occurred in Akron in 2021.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Force (NOVFTF) located and arrested 23-year-old Desean Williamson and 21-year-old Teion Thompson, who were both wanted by the Akron Police Department in connection with the murder of 20-year-old Gage Zirke on July 25, 2021. Per a release, Williamson was wanted for murder, while Thompson was wanted for complicity to commit murder and obstructing justice.

The arrests come nearly two years after Zirke was found shot to death in the driver's seat of his vehicle after crashing into a tree near the 2300 block of 11th St. in Akron. Per Akron Police, Zirke died as the result of a gunshot wound to the chest, with Williams and Thompson alleged to be the responsible parties after they were involved in a verbal altercation with Zirke that turned deadly.

Williamson was arrested by task force members on Wednesday morning at an address near the 800 block of Winnefeld Way in Akron. Thompson was also arrested on Wednesday near the 1100 block of Eddy Road in Cleveland.

"Diligent investigative work by the Akron Police Department identified these two suspects who were wanted for an offense that happened almost 2 years ago," U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said in a statement. "Our team successfully arrested both suspects within minutes of one another today."
