Police in Maple Heights are investigating a fatal shooting that took place on Monday evening.
Officers were called to the 5500 block of Clement Street just after 8:30 p.m. for a report of gun shots and a vehicle that had struck a residence. When police arrived, they found a black Ford SUV that had hit the porch of a house.
The driver of the vehicle, 22-year-old Tyler West, was transported to Marymount Hospital, where he died from a single bullet wound to his back. West's two male passengers were not injured.
The victim’s vehicle was followed by the suspect in his vehicle, who then opened fired on the victim. The suspect vehicle is described as a silver SUV or truck with a sunroof. There is no word yet on a name or description of the suspect.
The Maple Heights Police Department is continuing to investigate the case and will provide updates.
