Winning lottery ticket hits Powerball jackpot worth $1.765 billion: See where the lucky ticket was sold

The Powerball winner has the option of taking the $1.765 billion as an annuity option or a lump sum payment worth $774.1 million.

CLEVELAND — We finally have a winner! One lucky lottery ticket sold in California has won the $1.765 billion Powerball jackpot for the drawing on Wednesday, October 12, 2023.

"The lucky ticket holder will have the choice between an annuitized prize worth an estimated $1.765 billion or a lump sum payment of $774.1 million," according to lottery officials. "Both prize options are before taxes. If the winner selects the annuity option, they will receive one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year."

It's the second-largest Powerball jackpot in history behind the record $2.04 billion ticket won in California back on Nov. 7, 2022.

But that's not all...

There were a pair of winning tickets worth $2 million sold in Arizona and Pennsylvania, while $1 million winners hit in California, Florida, New York, Oklahoma and Virginia.

But what about Ohio? Here's a list of all the prizes hit throughout the Buckeye State...

  • $100,000 prize: 2 winners
  • $50,000 prize: 3 winners
  • $200 prize: 119 winners
  • $100 prize: 300 winners
  • $14 prize: 3,671 winners
  • $8 prize: 47,198 winners
  • $7 prize: 10,543 winners
  • $4 prize: 128,268 winners

The $100,000 winners were sold at Speedy Gas in Cleveland and New Albany Duchess in New Albany. The Ohio Lottery says both were auto-pick tickets.

The lucky numbers from the Wednesday night drawing were 22, 24, 40, 52, 64 with Powerball 10. The Power Play option was 2x.

Since the jackpot has now been reached, the top prize now returns to its starting point of $20 million for the next drawing, which is set for Saturday, Oct. 14 at 10:59 p.m. That prize has a cash option worth $8.8 million.

Northeast Ohio had a big Powerball winner earlier this year as one lucky ticket sold at a GetGo in Macedonia hit the jackpot worth $252.6 million during the April 19 drawing.
